Who Should Attend a Boreal Bliss Yoga Retreat?
The short answer is: anyone that wants to!
We get a lot of great questions about retreats. Some of the most common questions are about who attends, why, and if someone should/shouldn’t go for “x,y,z ..” reason. We will share our most commonly asked questions about attendance, and some more information for you on what a Boreal Bliss Yoga Retreat is all about.
Commonly Asked Questions and Answers
Q: I am new to yoga, is that okay?
A: YES! We always say that whether you are new, or experienced, in your yoga practice a retreat is an incredible way to really immerse yourself. You’ll discover more about yoga: engage in different styles of asana (physical postures), experiment with different forms of meditation, learn more about pranayama (breath work), and how to “live your yoga” off the mat.
Q: What ages are people that attend retreats?
A: ALL AGES. We have had 18 year olds up to 80+ year olds attend BB yoga retreats. We welcome all ages wholeheartedly and love the wide range of energy, knowledge, and input from a diverse group.
Q: I’m not very flexible - can I attend?
A: YES! We do not believe a yogi needs to look, act, bend, sit, stand, walk, dress, or talk a certain way. Yoga is most certainly for every body. As long as you are not restricted to certain movements as recommended by your doctor, attending a retreat is a very welcoming experience. If you do have medical restrictions - always feel free to inquire with us.
Q: Do other people attend retreats alone?
A: YEP! About 20% of our retreat attendees come solo. The feedback we hear, is that whether someone has come with a group of friends in the past, or came solo for the first time - they love it! Attending a retreat by yourself allows you to focus on YOU. We send out a pre-retreat survey about a month prior to the weekend where we find out if you have a roommate request. If you indicate to us that you are attending solo, we carefully select a room with other solo attendees. You meet amazing new people when opening yourself up to such a weekend as well. How awesome!
Q: Can men attend?
A: Yes! While most of our retreats are traditionally attended by women only, we did have a few men attend our Fall retreat at Eagle Bluff Learning Center in Lanesboro last year. We welcome any interested men to check out coming to that retreat Nov. 1-3, 2019! More info here: Lean Into Gratitude Yoga Retreat.
More About Boreal Bliss Yoga Retreats
Boreal Bliss Yoga Retreats are carefully planned out by co-owners Amanda Imes, Joella Miller, and Bryana Cook. We came together as friends nearly four years ago to organize our ideal weekend yoga retreat and offer it up to the public to attend. Since then we’ve made Boreal Bliss Yoga Retreats a big part of our lives. We love this work. A weekend away focused on yoga inspires, connects, soothes, and ignites something deep within. It’s an unforgettable and valuable experience. In order to provide you with this opportunity, we’ve discovered a few elements that we feel are vital to a Boreal Bliss Yoga Retreat:
Welcoming atmosphere - one thing you’ll definitely notice is the soothing and welcoming atmosphere at a BB yoga retreat - whether you come solo or with a friend/group, whether you are a beginner or experienced, whether you are young or seasoned - we welcome you wholeheartedly into this community
Stunning location - we carefully select locations that are tucked away in nature, allowing you to disconnect from stressors, and connect within
Yoga space - we look for a venue that has a beautiful yoga space and good energy (of course the best energy comes from a room full of yogis)
Adventure options - we want you to be able to connect with nature, get outdoors, explore, and engage in new and memorable activities
Quality yoga classes - we carefully plan our classes to meet a wide variety of needs, and to also immerse you into a wide variety of styles, topics, and offerings
All the Options - we always offer a very FULL schedule with amazing options, and encourage our yogis to pick and choose what works for them in order to create their dream weekend, whether that means participating in everything, or choosing to curl up with a good book or indulge in a massage
Full package - we offer weekends that have everything included and taken care of for you: lodging, meals, and all the makings of an unforgettable yoga retreat
While these are just some of the overarching themes, we also have more little details that we feel are important to every retreat. Some examples are: writing and self-reflection, laughter at campfires, evening group meditation, music, and art. While each retreat fits the style of a Boreal Bliss Yoga Retreat, each weekend is also very unique. Amanda, Joella, and Bryana meet weekly to create and plan, and also to delegate/divvy up tasks to ensure an amazing retreat is in store for you. <3
