An update on Maplelag

It’s with heavy hearts that we write to inform you that the beloved family-owned Maplelag Resort tragically had their main lodge burn down on October 10th.  The main lodge is known as the “heart of the resort”, where family-style home cooked meals were prepared and served, live music was enjoyed, cross-country skis and snowshoes lay waiting for the next adventure, sauna/hot tubbing, relaxing, and laughter took place, and dancing and yoga were embraced.

If you’ve been to Maplelag you know that this was more than a building.

Carefully curated in every nook and cranny….this lodge had a life of its own.  Unassuming on the exterior, and a delight to the senses in the interior.  Way larger than one would have thought from the outside as you walked the winding floor plan for the first time. The Richards family spent decades collecting artwork, relics, and antiques across the state, nation, and world, to warm the lodge and make it one-of-a-kind.

I’ve been walking the labyrinth of hallways in my mind since I heard the news- stopping for a cookie at the cookie bar, wandering the library, stumbling upon the many wonders of the basement.

We’ve reached out to the Richards family to express our condolences.  We are giving them space at this time of grief.

If you would like to contribute to the Gofundme, the link is here.

We are thankful for the opportunity to have visited Maplelag last year. To the Richards family, we are cheering you on from afar. The yoga community supports you!

Warmly, Amanda & Bryana

P.S. A brief update on our beloved Hygge retreat is that we will be moving to Camp du Nord in Ely, MN January 6-8, 2023. If you’d like to be on the waitlist for this winter retreat, please email us directly at hello@borealblissyogaretreats.com. Thank you.
