Why Peace in Practice?

Founded by Jaina Two Rivers, Chance York, and a dedicated community of yoga and integrated health leaders of color, Peace in Practice is more than a yoga studio; it’s a movement. Peace in Practice nurtures holistic, trauma-informed programs that meet people where they are, offering a welcoming space for growth, healing, and connection.

From weekly community classes and healing-centered yoga teacher trainings to youth mentorship and advanced yoga certification programs, Peace in Practice offers life-changing opportunities and essential resources for mind, body, and spirit.

Here’s a look at offerings at Peace in Practice:

  • Wellness Wednesdays – Open-to-all, weekly yoga classes at Northside Artspace Lofts.

  • RYT-200 Healing-Centered, Trauma-Informed Teacher Training – Subsidized and sliding scale options, with job placements at local youth-focused organizations.

  • My Brothers Heal – A safe, empowering monthly gathering for men of color, encouraging vulnerability, connection, and support.

  • Karuna Community Collaboration – Expanding our reach to support youth and adults in the correctional system, women’s shelters, and local schools.

  • Advanced 300-Hour Yoga Teacher Training – A subsidized program supporting students in deepening their practice and leading compassionately.

  • Youth Yoga Teacher Training Program – Local high school students earn a RYT-200 certification and gain high-paying job opportunities as yoga instructors in their communities.

  • Full-Day Rest Retreat in collaboration with Campfire Minnesota – A nature immersion retreat, with yoga, workshops, and shared meals.

How You Can Help

This year, Peace in Practice has a fundraising goal of $8,000—a vital step toward expanding these programs, supporting our staff, and amplifying impact. Here’s how you can be a part of this mission:

  1. Donate – Every donation counts, regardless of size. Help us make integrative wellness accessible for everyone, especially those who have yet to experience its benefits.

  2. Spread the Word – Share our mission on social media (@peaceinpractice), make a call, send an email, or simply talk to someone about our work. Your voice helps us reach more people and increase awareness.

  3. Volunteer – As we grow, we need passionate, committed individuals to join us. Whether you’re a yoga teacher, fundraiser, capacity builder, or board member, your unique gifts can help us create lasting change.

This work is necessary and long overdue. Your support of Peace in Practice fuels programs that help communities heal, connect, and flourish. Join us in uplifting and empowering Twin Cities communities this giving season.

With deep gratitude and peace,
