Luxurious Lake Life Retreat- A new retreat opportunity!
You asked for it and we are going to give it a go!
The retreat is june 5-7, 2020 ——>registration opens february 7, 2020 at noon!
The three of us tend to be the type of gals to sleep in a tent and survive on peanut butter sandwiches. We started Boreal Bliss because we wanted to offer the yoga retreat experience to people like us- people who would love to attend a weeklong retreat on the ocean, but are looking for a shorter option closer to home.
So for our first three and a half years we’ve focused on hosting retreats at affordable venues with a wide variety of outdoor activities. We generally opt for cafeteria style food and bunk beds with great hikes and views rather than catered food and private rooms.
After three summers at Wolf Ridge Learning Center on Minnesota’s North Shore, we decided to try something different this year. Bryana is headed north (way north) for the ultimate rustic experience at Birchwood Wilderness Camp on the border of the Boundary Waters. That retreat is titled Adventure Awaits: a yoga retreat for the outdoor woman. In complete contrast, Amanda and Joella are headed to Brainerd for our first retreat at a luxury resort…. and I just have to say…. I AM EXCITED.
I’m ready for some luxury. I’m SO looking forward to catered dinners on a deck overlooking Wilson Bay. After 40 weeks of pregnancy and three-ish months caring for a newborn, I will be ready for some time at the spa.
Our retreats also tend to be comprised primarily of women. Because this retreat offers private rooms, we think this retreat will be accommodating for women looking for solo retreat experience, women coming in small groups, and couples looking for a getaway and some growth. My husband and newborn will be joining me! Another perk? I grew up going “up north” with my extended family. As the years passed, this trip became too difficult to organize. We’ll take the pain out of organization for you. Let us take care of the details. You don’t even have to meal plan or do the dishes! All you have to do is show up and have a good time!
*P.S. My husband planned our honeymoon as a surprise. We spent a week at an ashram in the Bahamas. At the time, Drew had been to a maximum of two yoga classes. He wanted to come to share something I felt passionate about. We strengthened our bond, shared many laughs, and had a great time. A retreat is a great way to build meaningful connections and memories with loved ones, girlfriends, family, and the self!

MEDITATION, PRANAYAMA,AND THE SCIENCE OF STRESS RELIEF WITH AMANDA IMES, JOELLA MILLER, AND STACY NIGHTWINE
Life is hectic. Learn some strategies to bring the calm found at a yoga retreat with you into your everyday life. Amanda, Joella, and Stacy will introduce you to the science behind breathwork, meditation, and asana.
INTRODUCTION TO THE YAMAS & NIYAMAS WITH AMANDA IMES
Yoga is more than asana. How do we incorporate yoga into our daily lives? Learn more about, or revisit, the yamas and niyamas with Amanda. The first two limbs of Patanjali’s eight-fold path are the yamas (restraints) and niyamas (observances). The eight-fold path comes from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. The remaining six limbs include asana (physical postures), pranayama (breath control), pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses), dharana (focused concentration), dhyana (meditation), and samadhi (contemplation, bliss).
In America, we are familiar with asana, the physical postures of yoga. You’ll notice that the yamas and niyamas are actually the first two limbs on the eight-fold path, falling before the physical postures of asana. Whether you’ve been to one yoga class or ten-thousand, the yamas and niyamas are gifts of wisdom to provide guidance on the path to a contented and peaceful life.
CRYSTAL SOUND BOWLS AND SOUND HEALING WITH JOELLA MILLER
Each energy channel within the body is linked to a specific sound. Each crystal bowl is tuned to each of our chakras. Explore the power of the vibrational energy of the Sound Bowls with a transformational Sound Bath. This is something that simply must be experienced- it is a unique experience.
GROUP EXCURSION ON PONTOONS** DETAILS TO COME
An outing on pontoons Saturday afternoon will cost a bit extra- but we simply can’t go to one of Minnesota’s lakes without getting out on a boat (pronounced Booaht in Minnesota).
CREATIVE WRITING WITH AMANDA IMES
Amanda has been teaching creative writing since 2014. She loves to bring out the writer within, to show everyone that they have the ability to write creatively! Writing is a great way to express and process our emotions, memories, aspirations, and experiences. While we are not all aspiring authors, we can all use writing as a tool to know ourselves, to laugh at ourselves, and to capture our memories before they fade with the dim mists of time.
MYOFASCIAL RELEASE WITH BRYANA COOK
Treat yourself to a self massage. Myofascial release is all about getting to those issues in our tissues! Fascia is the connective layer just beneath the skin. Discover the many benefits of incorporating a myofascial release practice into your life. Using simple tools, feel relief and learn small ways to bring these practices into your daily life.
ESSENTIAL OILS- CREATE YOUR OWN ROLLER BALL(S) AND LEARN THE BASICS WITH STACY NIGHTWINE
Stacy utilizes essential oils in her daily life for anything from skincare, health & wellness, to natural cleaning products.
In addition to information, Stacy will guide you in creating helpful blends to suit your needs at a reasonable, additional cost. Looking for a relaxing blend that helps you fall asleep? Experiencing aching muscles after a lot of yoga/hiking? Got heartburn? Frequent headaches? Happen to have a lot of itchy bug bites? Looking for a natural bug repellent remedy? Want to use more natural cleaning products in your home? Wanting an essential oils starter kit? Want to know more about diffusing? These are all things Stacy can help you with!
