2022-2023 Boreal Bliss Yoga Teacher Training

Boreal Bliss 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training 2022-2023

Boreal Bliss Yoga Retreats is a small, women-owned business that is all about yoga, relationships, well-being, and nature.

The idea behind this yoga teacher training is to bring aspiring yogis along, learn together in community, and grow through yoga and immersion in nature.

This program will be a retreat-style offering, true to Boreal Bliss Yoga Retreats.

Boreal means “of the north” and our training will largely take place in the wild north of Minnesota. We hope you’ll join us!

Overview: Nestled in the woods, cozied up in picturesque spaces - optimize your learning and growth. Education, meditation, yoga, pranayama, hiking, canoeing, snowshoeing, living simply in a small community with your yoga teacher training cohort.

Locations: Our in-person, retreat-style training segments, are located at our favorite outdoor-centered spaces. We have the privilege of calling the following stunning locations our home and classroom for this program:

  • Camp Olson in Longville, MN

  • Eagle Bluff in Lanesboro, MN

  • Deep Portage in Hackensack, MN

  • Camp du Nord in Ely, MN

Virtual:  This program consists of virtual hours requirements in addition to in-person, retreat-style training to meet our educational hours requirements and create more ease on traveling.

Independent Study: In addition to lecture, discussion, and experiential learning with Boreal Bliss staff through in-person and virtual instruction, students will also be required to complete independent study assignments: i.e. reading, writing reflections, and practice teaching.  This will consist of approximately 10-20 hours for writing/practice teaching.  Reading assignment length approximation varies depending on the individual’s pace.

Required Reading: We have required reading to enhance your educational experience.  We will assign reading excerpts from the following books:

  • Embrace Yoga’s Roots: Courageous Ways to Deepen Your Yoga Practice by Susanna Barkataki

  • The Yamas & Niyamas: Exploring Yoga’s Ethical Practice by Deborah Adele

  • Science of Yoga by Ann Swanson

  • The Yoga Sutras

    • The Essence of Yoga: Reflections on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali by Bernard Bouanchaud

    • The Path of the Yoga Sutras: a practice guide to the core of yoga by Nicolai Bachman

About:  Boreal Bliss Yoga School’s 200 hour yoga teacher training is open to all-levels of interested practitioners.  We teach students how to offer accessible vinyasa and hatha yoga classes.  We focus on yoga practices that bring you closer to nature and your authentic path.  We are passionate about incorporating yoga philosophy into your daily life.

Yoga Alliance: Topics covered during training will include Yoga Alliance Standard Requirements.  Upon completion of Boreal Bliss Yoga School’s training requirements, students will be eligible to apply for Yoga Alliance’s 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher designation.

Semi-Immersion, Retreat-Style Education: We hope this retreat-style training will allow our trainees to fully step out of routine and into teacher training. As with our retreats, our YTT will focus on immersion in the northwoods of MN, disconnection from busyness and reconnecting to the mind and body.  We also emphasize inclusion and diversity at our retreats, and will continue that focus as it relates to ability, age, gender, ethnicity, religion, socio-economic status, and more.

BIPOC Scholarships: As part of our ongoing commitment to equity and inclusion in the yoga space, we are offering scholarships to Black, Indigenous, people of color (BIPOC) for our teacher training program. More information available upon request. Email us at hello@borealblissyogaretreats.com.
